I think the world needs a new renaissance!

As an Italian, I consider the Uffizi and Accademia to be the best-run state museums in my country. Whenever I visit my family in Firenze, I book tickets and go see the fantastic works of art my country has given to the world. It makes me very proud to see how many people come and admire the works of Michelangelo, Botticelli, Caravaggio, Titian, and other Italian masters. It is so beautiful that I often wish for the world to get some kind of a modern, newly created Renaissance. I think everyone should visit the Uffizi galleries and the Accademia at least once in life!

Andrea
Uffizi Gallery and Accademia expanded my horizons

My boyfriend is an art fan, me not so much. He booked us Uffizi and Accademia tickets. However, as we walked through the Uffizi, I was blown away by the sheer beauty of Renaissance paintings, especially the works of Caravaggio and Titian. Seeing the "Sacrifice of Isaac" and "Venus of Urbino" up close triggered something in me. I came to really appreciate this opportunity. By the end of the day, I almost felt like I'd been on a spiritual journey. My point is, go and broaden your horizons; you won't regret it, that's for sure.

DISCOVER VARIOUS SECTIONS OF THE UFFIZI GALLERY

The Uffizi Gallery is divided into chronological and regional sections. For example, there are the Italian Gothic rooms where you can see medieval paintings by Giotto and Simone Martini. One section is dedicated to the Early Renaissance and works of art by Fra Angelico and Paolo Uccello. Sandro Botticelli and his masterpieces "The Birth of Venus" and "Primavera" have their own rooms. There is a section devoted to Mannerism and artists such as Pontormo and Bronzino. One is also reserved for the Venetian School and features Titian and Tintoretto. Paintings of Caravaggio adorn the baroque room, and there are rooms for Flemish and German art as well. The main highlight of the entire Uffizi Gallery is the High Renaissance section that features Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and Raphael!

THREE ROOMS FOR THREE GENIUSES AT THE UFFIZI GALLERY

In 1504, young Raphael came to Florence to study great works of art and meet in person with Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and other artists. He greatly admired them both and incorporated what he learned into his own work. Today, each of those geniuses has a room dedicated to preserving their legacy. Michelangelo's, Raphael's, and da Vinci's Rooms are located on the second floor of the Uffizi Gallery and await your arrival. If you want to learn some intriguing anecdotes and stories about great Renaissance artists' lives, read Giorgio Vasari's book "Lives of the Most Excellent Painters, Sculptors, and Architects". Or you can listen to our audio guide commentaries while you explore the Uffizi Gallery!

TREASURES OF THE ACCADEMIA GALLERY

Uffizi and Accademia museum tickets grant you entrance to two of the most famous galleries in the world. The main highlight is Michelangelo's David, but there are so many other works of art that deserve attention. Particularly impressive is the section called the Museum of Musical Instruments. It holds an incredible collection of old musical instruments, such as the oldest piano in the world. It's no wonder, since the piano was invented in Florence. So, seeing Antonio Stradivari's viola made in 1690 would be a must when in Florence! You might want to hear them play, so go ahead and try some of the numerous interactive and multimedia installations!

Works of art by Michelangelo at the Accademia and the Uffizi Gallery

Often claimed to be the most important statue in the world's history, Michelangelo's David is the highlight of the Accademia Gallery. It is kept in the Tribune section alongside four intentionally unfinished sculptures named "The Prisoners". Listen to our audio guide to learn why they were left unfinished. The Uffizi Gallery also features one important artwork of Michelangelo, the painting "Doni Tondo". This is one of Michelangelo’s few panel paintings, as all others are either giant statues or frescos.
